Stair Tower and Pipe Scaffolding for Northwell Health South Shore University Hospital | Bay Shore, NY

A project by Eagle Scaffolding Services

At Northwell Health South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, NY, Eagle Scaffolding Services, Inc. built a stair tower for roof access along with pipe scaffolding running from a lower roof to a higher roof. The system gave Premier Mechanical the access they needed to install temporary chiller lines on an active hospital campus, without disrupting hospital operations below.

Hospital sites like this one leave no room for error. Delivery and installation, as well as access and usage after installation, had to facilitate the safe movement of workers and equipment between roof heights while staying clear of activity around them, both for the project at hand and for normal hospital operations. Eagle’s crew built the pipe scaffold and stair tower without delay or hardship, keeping the job on schedule for Premier Mechanical’s chiller line installation.

That kind of schedule certainty starts with the crew. Eagle tracks employee certifications closely and takes time to keep everyone at the top of their game. Every worker on this job carried a current SST safety card, and before the pipe scaffold lift began, the union crew ran a toolbox talk on fall protection and full tie-off. That is the difference union scaffolding labor brings to a hospital site: trained, certified workers who show up ready, not last-minute hires learning the job on-site.

This is one of several projects Eagle has completed for Premier Mechanical at this hospital this year, including additional deck levels, bay extensions, and scaffold repairs across the site. That repeat business reflects a working relationship that goes back further still: Eagle has supported Premier Mechanical’s mechanical work at other Northwell Health facilities on Long Island since 2020.
