Systems Scaffolding for Astoria Annex Substation | Queens, NY

A project by Eagle Scaffolding Services

When EJ Electric needed access for the installation and connection of terminations on 345kV transmission towers at the Astoria Annex Substation, they called Eagle Scaffolding Services, Inc.

Eagle furnished, erected, and dismantled systems scaffolding across multiple towers at the active substation site, working around Con Edison operations and a tight coordination schedule between trades. The work included multi-deck system scaffold rising through several levels, roof decking, cable tie-down systems, shoring towers, and smaller secondary scaffold configurations supporting splicing and standby operations for the EJ Electric crew.

The job ran through winter conditions — snow, ice rain, and high winds — without missing a beat. When the EJ Electric crew needed scaffolding modified on the fly to thread cable lines through the structure, Eagle’s foremen kept two crews moving simultaneously and adapted in real time.

This is the kind of industrial scaffolding work that requires more than bodies on site. It requires highly skilled union craftsmen who understand the demands of complex projects.
